LXDE is a desktop environment.

Compiz. I just love making my classmates jealous by twirling the virtual desktop around, writing my name with fire etc.

Fluxbox....great for when you have some older machine like a Pentium 2 that you want to use. Although, I've never gotten too involved with it I'll admit...within a few days (maybe) I'm back to GNOME or xfce. I'll have to spend more time with it and learn how to really customize it instead of just using the sotck config files lol.

Compiz for Desktop/Laptop & light weight DirectFB, GTK or Qt for Embedded devices.

PS: You may Add next year on Linux + [Embedded & Mobile] domains too, decent stuff are there.

I must say that KWin is definitely paving the way for a better window manager. Supports some, constantly improving, support for effects, but works quite well without composite, too.

Fluxbox..for good performance

linuxlover.chaitanya 01-16-2009 12:32 AM

Compiz. Looks good. Makes others using vista jealous of what I get free of cost.

djagga 01-16-2009 08:31 AM

Fluxbox

dwm is not listed . It's minimal & functional .
That's a late request I know .

Fluxbox.

I've been glancing at openbox too and it looks nice. If I get the time to sit down and fiddle a bit to learn the pipe menus I might end up with it instead but I've been using fluxbox for a long time now and I really like it. light, easy to use, easy to configure. Very nice indeed.

Fluxbox = teh s3x
