Welcome to the 2008 LinuxQuestions.org Members Choice Awards

Welcome to the 2008 LinuxQuestions.org Members Choice Awards. The categories have been chosen and the polls will open soon. I am going to post the nominees now, to give members a couples days to post feedback. This will allow additions and modifications to be made before the voting commences. If you have any suggestions, please post in the thread for the poll in question. Any general suggestions should go in this thread.

We have no plans to add a package manager poll this year. Thanks for the feedback.

Would have been nice to see a Business Intelligence Category, People like JasperSoft and Pentaho are making great strides in this area.

Am I blind or is there no MTA category this year? I mean, one would think those are sufficient enough to have an award. Mail Client of the year is worthless if they don't have an MTA to deliver the email..

I would like to see a category on document preparation systems, which should include items like: latex, tex, lyx, openoffice writer, KWord, etc.

MTA was removed a couple years ago as it was consistently one sided.

I know it is not a hardware poll, but netbooks like the Acer Aspire One would be doing heaps to promote linux/limpus as an operating system. I for one think this is a beautifully balanced system.
