Windows on Linux App of the Year
Virtualization products have been broken out into a separate poll this year.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't QEMU a virtualization product?
|
It would appear so - moved, thanks.

Wine. I used to dislike Wine, but the latest versions surprised me a lot. I don't have need for any Windows software, except for games, and wine is quite impressive with them. If wine continue to improve at this pace, there is a chance that it will support more Windows XP games than Vista does and that may bring a lot of new users.
|
Yeah, wine has done some serious progress, so wine should be the best.
|
Wine is not expensive, and my favorite.
|
Wouldn't stuff like winedoors apply to this category?

or should it be: Amen to that any how, MMX is right! :D |
My vote is with Wine. I get excited every two weeks when the a new version comes out. This project is buzzing with activity Monday through Friday. I can say this because of how open the project is. Their's no hidden process, you can check out the mailing lists, GIT, Bugzilla, AppDB for yourself. No stagnation here. Just an incredible project.

Windows on Linux App of the Year
why not have an option for the best? VirtualBox i take that back - just seen the virtualisation page |
Wine all the way! It's the only one I use, or need.
|
Wine, absolutely.

I think it's very telling of the success of the Wine project. Of the four choices here, one is wine, one is basically wine with commercial support, one is a commercialized fork of wine, and the other really belongs in another category (virtualization). Basically, everything that should be here is wine or a wine derivative.
Go wine! |
I voted for wine. I first tried it maybe 18 months ago and it was ok but I've been surprised by how much better it has got. I don't need it now as some good free tools have replaced the last remaining win32 application I used but it was invaluable and definitely worth a vote.

WINE. Once I figured this one out it was awesome.
