OpenOffice, no question.

OpenOffice. It has good enough interoperability with M$ office and therefore can be used in real life.

i voted koffice for the amazing work they've done this year, but i use OpenOffice
|
Does Abiword qualify as Gnome office? If so, Abiword takes my vote.
|
Koffice been improving a lot lately.
|
I too voted Koffice cause I definately start using it when Ubuntu integrates a ODT compatibile version

OO is the best for ofimatics users. They like and they are agree.Nothing else is needed
|
This poll needs another option.
I know I'll get flamed for this one, but so what. At least I'm honest enough to admit I use crossover office w/ ms-office. It's still the best option. OO is just too damn slow, and is a resource hog. I keep trying it, but it isn't quite there yet. Abiword is nice for simple stuff (so is leafpad for that matter). Haven't tried koffice in long time, may be time to take another look. |
Running natively on Linux is a prerequisite.

I like OpenOffice because it is free, does everything I need and it can read MS files . I need it to read MS Office files because my school uses MS Office. I am going to download portable OpenOffice so I can do my work with a open format .

Great stuff done by the developers of both products.
Koffice is great and quick so if you want to do something really quickly then fire up KOffice. However to compete with something like M$ Office OO is almost there -- not quite but surely will be soon. This product goes from strength to strength. A bit more polish on the performance side is needed -- but of course as always if we want more and more features we have to pay the penalty in performance and size. This latest version of Open Office addresses most of the problems I had with trying switch away from M$ EXCEL. Pivot tables --- called Pilot in OO Web Queries -- these work fine now as well http://www.openofficetips.com/blog/a...ry_scrapi.html Macros -- the built in basic is generally sufficient. Excel is still fantastic IMO but OO gets better by the release and probably will be sufficient for 99% of typical EXCEL users So I'll have to vote for OO Cheers -K |
OOo
OpenOffice.org is the best
|
Ooo Rulez!
Of course OpenOffice! It the best open source office suit ever! You know, there is that Open Document Format Alliance (Even google is part of that!, http://www.odfalliance.org/ ). OOO is the most capable of using ODF, OOO is a multiplatform suit (this is a huge advantage!), and OOO has a huge support background. With these specs this office beats all the others, and becouse of that multiplatorm thing it really has a big future.
|
OO only of course
|
Definitely OpenOffice
