this one was a tough choice considering I use GAIM (on occassion), BitchX and aMSN. But I like aMSN for what it is

Gaim is so slow in release. And so boring in implementing new features...

I vote for Psi, development versions.

kopete is awesome, even when you first look at it, it looks more flexible than gaim.

I use Kopete for chatting, so I picked that one. But I spend far more time onirc, and the best there is KVirc, which isn't even in the poll....

Started with gaim on gnome. Then switched to kde. Kopete beats gaim all black and blue. I still use gaim when on windows.
