FVWM2.

I hear people saying a lot of stuff about it, but they cant fight the arguement that it is the most configurable and functional WM on earth today. That, and yes, it can be eye-candy (all you need is lynucs.org inspiration and some brain cells). Plus, low mem consuption. Simply, Perfect. Fluxbox is kinder garden next to FVWM.

i say no more...

Looks are only screen deep

I'm not too fermillyer with most of these, but enlightenment seems to come up a lot. There are a few that are rather unique.

Flux is awesome, once you finish configuring it. I've also been impressed with Enlightment when I saw it lately.

darthtux 02-19-2006 05:46 AM

Window Maker.

Enlightenment is very smart in both e16 (the stable version) & the shining upcoming-but-allready-usable e17 Desktop management :
This is Elive-0.4 :

This is e17-cvs back in November 2005 in my small Toshiba laptop :

I love that it take only a few MB : 37MB (total) are in use after booting into enlightenment 17-cvs I got that beautifull & fully functionnal desktop. So you can compare with those big fat Gnome / KDE, or even with that windows xp :D

How comes one can't put an image here

Window Maker all the way! Flexible, clean and fast.

I've been playing with IceWM today and I must say, it's very nice.

Seems like IceWM with xterm, Dillo, and ROX-filer is a great combination for my slow spare computer.

raskin 02-27-2006 01:52 AM

OOps.. Window Maker is losing???!!! How can it be??

Gogul 02-27-2006 10:16 AM

I agree 100% *FLUXBOX*

lord-fu 02-27-2006 11:07 AM

fluxbox :}

brockers 02-28-2006 09:55 AM

Anyone here try using other WM's with KDE or Gnome? It really speeds things up.

Bobby

Gogul 02-28-2006 10:37 AM

I also use ice with kde to speed things up (nice).

My favourate window manager is still FLUXBOX

Satissh Srinivasan 02-28-2006 05:56 PM

Though i personally use FVWM2 i feel DR17 (enlightenment)has been the revelation.

anupamsr 03-01-2006 01:35 AM

Openbox... Smallest and does its job the best.

Fluxbox crashed several times while running Valknut... otherwise I would have voted for it.
