Open Source Game of the Year
Which Open Source game do you prefer?
|
I really like FooBillard and I have been known too waste more than my fair share of time playing BZFlag. At least thats what the wife says. :)

I'm totally hooked on Gnome Sudoku.
What about Nexuiz? |
i've been addicted to enigma of late, not on the list though

I vote for online text roleplaying games, "MUDs".
If I have to pick one, I pick "AFK". AFK, Dawn of Time, Circle, Smaug, and several other codebase/servers are all Linux based. They are exciting to play. They make it fun to create worlds for other people to play. There's about 1800 MUDs listed on mudconnector.com. MUDs involve resource management, strategy, expression, quick thinking, exploration, problem solving, competition and cooperation. These games are run mostly on Linux servers. Most of the codebases (server software) are open source and free. I use programable telnet clients, gmudix and tiny fugue, to connect. When the codebase tools are improved so that the mechanics of creation can keep up with the creative urges of the administrator/owner/builders, then "world creation" will be among the "favorite games" of many of us. What am I doing here instead of playing a MUD? Bye! |
GNOME Sudoku has been added.

FreeCiv is like crack ... it's scary! But then, so is Frozen Bubble, so this was a really tough choice for me. I had to go with FreeCiv in the end, just because I end up spending hours playing it, whereas I just open up Frozen Bubble at random when I'm bored and quit after maybe 15 minutes.

Please add Cube < awesome fps and map editor. Met some cool people online with that game.

Frozen Bubble is so-o-o addictive :)

I actually prefer K Sudoku over Gnome Sudoku, but Sudoku in general is the best game. I'm addicted. |
Pingus owns :)
|
Can Warsow be in the list?
|
I never play games on my desktop
But if I do, it's for a quick game of Wesnoth. Reminds me of old Heroes of Might and Magic. None of that RTS wargaming for me.
