KDE, it was my first choice, and it still is

Gnome supporter here. KDE has some nice features but i'm used to Gnome and i'll stick with it i guess...

GNOME for beauty, simplicity and integration.

Integration? GNOME looks like a mish mash of apps slung together. I think KDE has a lot better integration between apps.

desktop

Although I've been a long time Gnome fan, I've found that the KDE desktop has improved a LOT..
However, to vote otherwise (against the 'Nome) wouldn't be right!
Despite some of the apparent "dumbing down" design changes, I still find the 'Nome' to be the best.

KDE last year, KDE this year and unless there are some drastic changes I'd say it will be KDE next year too....

keithmcd 02-16-2006 08:09 AM

I do like KDE, but I choose Gnome because it doesn't crash everytime I logout of it like KDE likes to do with me. I'll give it another go when Fedora Core 5 comes out.

Something better than KDE!?!
No KDE is the best Desktop enviormen ever made, nothing compare to it!

Dominique_71 02-16-2006 09:18 AM

Kde is best.
Gnome sucks, its to bad because it was almost becomming good and it is so many excellent softwares in the GNU world.
Fluxbox is faster, and have much better configuration facilities as gnome.

waelaltaqi 02-16-2006 10:19 AM

Gnome , KDE ?????

KDE is a very nice desktop enviroument but at the same time it a little bit complex for normal home users. i think that a lot of items on the KDE menu can be grouped togather. you need a to work on it for a considerable period of time to get used to it. Gnome is faster at booting and faster when it works and it's more stable with Gnome based software like Evolution.

i guess that both KDE and Gnome are easy to use but personally i prefer Gnome over KDE

I am a fan of XFCE. Its really good to see a fast desktop like this one and as someone said its also user friendly. I used it on my FC2 but am currently using Gnome on my SuSE.

jag2000 02-16-2006 12:35 PM

KDE all the time from the beginning...tried gnome a few times..

pentalive 02-16-2006 01:06 PM

Didn't Vote here cause I keep going back to fluxbox

The machine I run linux on has a small hard drive and is a little slow, so fluxbox runs faster than gnome or kde (actually I hated the way gnome insisted on launching it's file browser each time I mounted a CD Rom, I wanted to use cli
to work with the CD Rom.)

How is XFCE?

Iīm voting for Gnome, just because I donīt like the KDE Look īnī Feel. But as soon as KDE has something comparable to GIMP Iīm the first who switches. I mean, we have two really big desktop environments, but still I -Gnome user- have to install QT because thereīs nothing like K3B for GTK+. And vice versa I think many KDE users feel the same about the lack of a "KIMP" :)

anakin 02-16-2006 03:42 PM

KDE. it was the first D.E. that I saw and used, so I'll stick to it...I now use kde 3.5.1 on my Slackware 10.2 distro and it's very cool...
