Sendmail easy to configure? Hehe.. you must be some kind of guru or something. Sendmail is utterly confusing for most, I know sysadmins that have used it for years that still can't grasp all of it.. ;)

Postfix is my choice, we just replaced qmail at work with it.. qmail just couldn't quite handle our mail at times under heavy loads and in my personal opinion, I'd rather use sendmail over qmail any day of the week.

OmegaBlac 12-31-2004 02:15 PM

Vote for Postfix.

Snowolf 01-01-2005 11:13 AM

I like Xmail.
I used it on Windows with Apache2Triad and I am going to use it on Linux....
Why it isn'it in the list?

fotoguy 01-02-2005 12:39 AM

I use SME Server 6.0 which uses sendmail, Squirrel mail and what else I don't know, haven't bothered to go that far into yet.

carstenbjensen 01-02-2005 04:55 AM

Exim...

I'm an old Debian guy... No, it's configuration is nice. And (of course) its Free Software...

LinuxLover 01-02-2005 08:49 AM

Just 4 Postfix

Poprocks 01-02-2005 10:24 PM

Postfix all the way!

Sepero 01-03-2005 10:07 AM

WHA??? Where's FakeMTA?!
FakeMTA- it's the best!

hutuworm 01-03-2005 09:10 PM

Netqmail 1.05 is better.

scuffell 01-04-2005 01:06 PM

qmail after I found qmailrocks.org

jmeads 01-06-2005 07:07 AM

Postfix Rocks!

kostian 01-07-2005 03:14 PM

sendmail.
I probably wouldn't use it on a server but it works for my personal use.

fmark 01-08-2005 01:16 PM

communigate pro missing

CommuniGate Pro is a commercial app but much better than any qmail/postfix/sendmail or any other oss mta

LoungeLizard 01-09-2005 06:17 PM

Sendmail by far

ncorreia 01-10-2005 04:18 AM

Not much voting here. Sendmail is the real thing!

Yeah you're right.... is this usually not that heated of a category?

Do people prefer to use bloated MUAs rather than an MTA and a light MUA working together?

insyte 01-13-2005 10:44 AM

postfix for me....

zatriz 01-15-2005 02:24 AM

postfix all the way, there no going back

brockers 01-17-2005 07:21 PM

Got tired of sendmail bugs and exploits (and its configuration.) Switched to Postfix and never looked back. Never tried qmail, probably need to.

Bobby

BittaBrotha 01-17-2005 11:12 PM

Postfix. Sendmail sucks!

cros13 01-24-2005 08:25 AM

qmail is fast and reliable, pity about how hard to setup and configure it is!
exim also rocks, but if its a tossup i go for qmail.

apache363 01-24-2005 04:58 PM

sendmail. It's what I've used, use, and will use.

zaichik 01-25-2005 05:53 AM

Exim. Under heavy loads qmail tends to choke. Of course, there are apps like qmHandle to help it out when it has problems, but still...

coolamit78 01-25-2005 10:58 AM

I think qmail is the best MTA...once u get it running, u wont ever get into trouble as far as mails are concerned...and qmail can handle huge amount of load...so qmail rocks!

rivang 01-28-2005 04:00 PM

Yeah...

mishu_b 02-01-2005 03:39 AM

qmail

ServerStorm 02-01-2005 10:15 AM

I know eXtremail is more than just an MTA but I like it better than qmail or postfix. The one failing is antivirus support, but easy enough to get around. My vote is eXtremail

Medievalist 02-01-2005 12:51 PM

Sendmail

Simple reliable LDAP integration, massive scaling, truly mature.

Also hard to configure for n00bs, but there are now tools available from Sendmail Inc. that are supposed to solve this problem.

The most powerful, configurable MTA out there is still sendmail.

belkens 02-02-2005 05:16 AM

i love qmail also when qmailrocks.org published their tutorial!
