Slackware all the way! :)

I like Knoppix too. It was responsible for getting me interested in Linux in the first place,
After years of Windows use, I saw somewhere on the Net, that you could buy a CD, not touch your hard-dsik and have Linux up and running from the CD only! I thought coming from Windows WOW! So I tried it. Sure enough 5 minutes after popping CD in, I was checking email and surfing! That did it for me! Knoppix is responsible for me getting into Linux. Now I love it. At the moment I am using SuSE 8.2, but if their licensing is going to get more restrictive then I will get the latest Knoppix and use it to install Debian. I have tried no other distributions, just Knoppix, Debian (a little) and SuSE. |
There can be only one - Slackware!

I never knew the Slackware community was so big..
|
go Gentoo..
|
I just put the link in an IRC channel I regularly visit and there are quite a couple of Debian fans in there. On reply was: Since when did Masochism become a point of view? *fg :D

I starting my linux campaign with Suse 8.2 and would recommend it to anyone starting out. Installation was a breeze, but after tinkering with it for a few months and getting nowhere with the rpms i choose to go for broke and try something a little more daring.(Debian was its name and apt was its game). Ever since i have found it superb so i voted for it. Mainly because of apt and it's general phillosophy of keeping in with the spirit of Free software. What a radical eh!!!:study:

I started out using redhat just cos I had the cds, BUT switched to gentoo when 1.4 came out and havent looked back.
ITS SOOOO FAST, but took 4 days to set up! |
I voted RH, but now I swithed to Fedora .... I don't know yet.
I thought Knoppix was the most inovative distro ! Rolf |
I prefered SUSE :)
|
no mention of ppc linux distros like yellowdog... oh well, it's redhat based
|
Since I've installed Suse 9.0 in my system Microsoft became a fadding memory...! ;)
