im using opera, mozilla and firebird. though opera quite fast, but i hate the advertisement in the icon bar :P and mozilla firebird still my favourite ;)
|
Firebird just got the #1 spot in Maximum PC's (Jan 2004 issue) 2nd annual Softy Awards- "The 10 most amazing, most indespensible apps and utilities of 2003"
And I quote: "The best part is that Firebird hasn't even hit version 1.0 yet. Actually, thats the next-to-best part. The best part is that Firebird is Mozilla's direct challenge to Microsoft on the web front." Wheeeee! |
Actually, for me, it's a tie because I use Konqueror about as much as I do Mozilla. Konqueror renders some parts of web pages more accurately I think, and changes the color of the scrollbar according to the site's CSS definitions (if any). I haven't tried Mozilla Firebird so maybe that would do the same as Konqueror. I should look into it I guess. I also like the plugins available for Mozilla, like StumbleUpon, GoogleBar, Blog This, and the web site downloader. I like Konqueror's Web Archive format though, as it puts all the files (including images) into ONE .war (Web ARchive) file.
So really, I use both... But if I had to vote for just one, I think Mozilla because of the extras I can use in it as well. |
I had tried most of these and found optimised (read without frills) Opera to be simply blazing ahead and leaving all other browsers way way behind. Try it out... ;-)

Firebird rocks the set. Lean, clean and fast. Displays everything perfectly(something I hated in Opera). Just open google.com in both firebird and in opera, you can see the difference. Firebird for ever!!!
|
firebird rules.if there was a second option, then opera wins hands down.opera looks&skins are really better.also, upgrades are coming almost every month.the problems are,
1.the ad on top right side for the free versions. 2.Display is not as good as Firebird. The firebird display is not as good as IE one(Okay, only for the websites designed for 'IE only').chechout timesofindia.com in firebird and IE and you will feel the difference. Also, the minimum size for a gzipped firebird is 14mb or so.opera it is just 5mb,for the static version. Both have block popup option.(move over IE) Also, for opera, flash 6 comes as default, unlike in firebird. Also, somethimes, the 'download flash' or 'download java' messages in firebird does not work in the first(or 2nd or 3nd) click itself. |
I'd love to go ahead and vote Firebird, but damn, I can't. The font sizes on are just to screwed up. So I have to cast a vote for Konqueror.
|
I wold vote Mozilla *bird but already voted the lynx :(
Use both of them daily ... |
Mozilla Firebird is awesome. It has everything I like about Mozilla but isn't slow.
|
i see links/elinks missing in here! i don't think, it's the same as lynx, since it really supports things like frames and tables...
anyway, firebird isn't bad either... cheers |
What is the differnce between Mozilla and Mozilla Fireball, haven't used M-Fireball and I am not in a rush to I am just curious. I use Mozilla on my slackware 9.1 and xp pro and rust me it kicks a..
ta ;) |
Have you read the rest of this thread, searched LQ for Mozilla/Firebird threads, gone to the Mozilla site? Basically, Mozilla is a web application suite and development platform and Firebird is a browser only - no email or anything else. Basically, just a piece of the mozilla code chopped out, rewritten to try to smooth off the rough edges, and given a more IE-like GUI look. For more details, check those sources I mentioned.
But yeah, mozilla kicks. :) |
I voted Mozilla because that is what I use.. yet I have been really thinking about buying Opera..
|
so many people are trying here and there...firebird, galeon, epiphany(did i spelled it right?)....., and there are others like opera, konqueror, BUT noone has the potential to beat MOZILLA
|
I will agree Mozilla beats Kongueror.. other then that I have not ried Firebird, Galeon, or epiphany (I spelled those like you did, I don't know if they are spelt right or not).. Nor Have a tried oprah, but Have heard so many good things about it..
