PC-BSD ATi Preinstallation question

hey guys

I own an ATi 7770 HD graphical card, and i would like to give PC-BSD a try, but ive read in some places ( though im unsure, i made a post questioning this info )

that ATi 7000 series is yet to be supported by free drivers and that ATi proprietary drivers dont work yet in PC-BSD

You are correct. There is work being done on support for newer AMD GPUs on FreeBSD, but it is currently in the testing stage, does not properly detect monitors and renders X quite slow due to all the debugging code.
