I think your X needs to be configured. Please, read this carefully: X11 Configuration, it helped me and many others a lot.
Good luck.
Tip 2
Alwayes send your xorg.conf entirely(with the exceptions of comments) Tip 3
There's two type of free implementation of X11 -- current release
XFree86™ 4.4RC2 && Xorg 7.4
As of FreeBSD 5.3-RELEASE, the default flavor of X11 was changed to Xorg (Hot/Relax Licence!) Tip 4
Starting with version 7.4, Xorg use HAL to autodetect keyboards and mice (Above Solution) Tip 5
FreeBSD IS NOT Linux. Maxiumum differences are in kernel && base system, and a average but important differnce in third-party app/util compiling/installing.
So, If you want to use freeBSD you must review it's manuals from scratch.

NVidia binary drivers for hardware OpenGL rendering
in X, using the GLX extensions x11/nvidia-driver-195.22 NVIDIA-FreeBSD-x86-195.22.tar.gz
Supported Architectures:i386 && amd64
It features x86-64 (amd64)
support. In order to use this driver release, your system will need to have
either FreeBSD 7-STABLE after 702106 or FreeBSD 8.0 and above.
Both the FreeBSD/x86 and FreeBSD/x86-64 driver packages include 32-bit Linux
ABI compatibility libraries; 64-bit Linux libraries may be included with a
future release (when support for Linux/x86-64 compatibility is added to
FreeBSD/amd64). The FreeBSD/x86-64 package does not include the FreeBSD/x86
OpenGL libraries; however, the libraries shipped with the FreeBSD/x86 driver
package have been tested on FreeBSD/x86-64.
Port was updated to serve both versions seamlessly. No need to specify
anything to distinguish between architectures.

normally whenever i have that kind of problem i just edit the xorg.conf file; in the serverflags section i make sure the AllowEmptyInput option is set to false i.e.
Option AllowEmptyInput false
whixh will make sure the keyboard and mouse are never disabled
Thanks guys, I certainly will try out your suggestions.
Currently my machine is downloading a whole lot of stuff (ports) from ftp://freeBSD.org. This is because someone sad I do not have any files under X11 in my hard disk. THe unfortunate part is that its taking days to complete the download :-(
