Media Center

I would like to setup a small media center with FreeBSD 6.0. For music, I am going to use Music Player Daemon with a Samba server for sharing files. I would like to know if anyone else has done this and which video player did they use? I am thinking of using Xine, but maybe there is a better player for my needs. My main goal is to be able to listen to music/play videos on the tv my computer is hooked up to. I also would like to do this without having to use a mouse, or possibly remotley with another computer. I dont think I will need a window manager except for the default one that comes with Xorg. Anyone have any ideas?

Have you searched for "video player?"

xine and mplayer are the most popular but search the boards, this has been discussed to death scores of times. There is a WEALTH of great info about video players already posted here. Good stuff.

Just use mplayer. Works great from the commandline.

If you use the framebuffer output you don't even need to have X installed to watch movies.
