java working, java plugin not

hi
i have installed linux-sun-jdk-1.4.2, when i do "# java -version", i get:
java version "1.4.2_06"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_06-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_06-b03, mixed mode)

however, after i did:
"# ln -s /usr/local/linux-sun-jdk1.4/jre/plugin/i386/ns610/libjavaplugin_oji.so /usr/X11R6/lib/browser_plugins/libjavaplugin_oji.so"
and start firefox to open some java sites, I can't, and in the login console I get the following message:
LoadPlugin: failed to initialize shared library /usr/local/linux-sun-jdk1.4.2/jr
e/plugin/i386/ns610/libjavaplugin_oji.so [Shared object "libdl.so.2" not found,
required by "libjavaplugin_oji.so"]
LoadPlugin: failed to initialize shared library /usr/local/linux-sun-jdk1.4.2/jr
e/plugin/i386/ns610/libjavaplugin_oji.so [/usr/local/linux-sun-jdk1.4.2/jre/plug
in/i386/ns610/libjavaplugin_oji.so: Undefined symbol "stderr"]

now i have linux-base 7 installed, the libdl.so.2 is in /usr/compat/linux/lib, and in rc.conf, I have enabled linux, what am i doing wrong? also i have the line "linprocfs /compat/linux/proc linprocfs rw 0 0" in fstab

also i installed linuxpluginwrapper package, if that's causing problems

thanks in advance!

damn F*&(*#&(*$ sh@#

thanks for the info. no wonder i couldn't find ways to do it.

with so many smart people already, why can't someone come up with a jdk native package? an unofficial one, of course, that by passes the sun license. i'm sure we good people here will keep it hush hush
