One small piece of advise. Instead of using pkg_add, you should try to use portinstall. As you know, pkg_add grabs preformatted packages which are not built specifically for your machine. Portinstall will install the port from your tree. Since you have portupgrade you can use some of the tools that comes with it.

yes, I've been using portupgrade where availble but when I dont have a package/port already install portupgrade doesnt seem to feel like fetching it. so, i use pkg_add and then portupgrade on it.


and today I've got much bigger problems than a mere problematic BSD machine. one of the IBM servers went down.... well I kinda helped it go down accidentally. And I think we may have lost some VERY important data. that's bad. hope I have a job tomorrow....
