freeBSD 4.9 SLOW writes to disk

Ok it was working fine for the past year (yeah i said year) or so but lately it takes FOREVER to copy a file to any place on the disk. Both HDD's in the machine show the same problem. I thought it was samba but I just used the cp command inside a shell and it took like 5 min or more to copy a 80MB file on the hdd. I have no idea what is going on. Any ideas?

The problem seems to be more of when I copy a file somewhere else on the HDD. I just moved a 200 MB file from my computer over to the machine that is having a problem and it took less than 20 seconds.

Try to upgrade your bsd box.

Older bsd do not have support for ATA 66 or ATA 100.
