i been deciding for a few days now which BSD varaint i should install. All BSDs seem really stable, robust, and have good security measurements. But i can't decide which one i want. Right now i'm stuck between NetBSD and FreeBSD. I just can't find the difference between thoughs two. Does anyone have any advice or knowledge of either operating system???? I been doing alot of reading and it seem like NetBSD is the oldest, but FreeBSD might have more to offer??? Also the reason i'm not picking OpenBSD is because they seem behind compared to Free and Net BSD's.

see the available packages(installation, upgrade), how to compile a kernel on each of them, and it might be easier for you to decide what you want.

Well

If you are not installing a bsd on a x86 platform, then choose NetBSD. It runs on almost anything.

If you are using a x86, then use FreeBSD. Is more used than NetBSD, same performances, more applications.

You might try FreeBSD 5.4, i run it on almost 6 computers, without any problem.

i use OpenBSD because of how it is put together and because of the frequent audits of the OpenBSD core. Another reason is they don't do something because its going to be user friendly, they pick security above all else which i totally agree with. So i would just read all the BSDs sites an pick the one that sounds good to you, they are all good so you can't go wrong.
