XFree86 seems to not worth with SiS 630
 

I installed FreeBSD 4.10 on my computer, did all of the packages things, then I go config the XFree86, then i save, then i exit the stand sysinstall program.
I type X, but when it goes in X, I only see my mouse, and the background is nothing, white and gray.

What do you think that I misconfigured?

SiS 630 as video card
Monitor 1280x768 at 70 hertz frequency

My chipset is SiS.

What could be my problem? I even tryed to install Slackware 10, but it does the SAME thing (even thought i didnt know how to manually config the X under bash at this time)

Alot depends on the X11 windows version your are using. The sis 630 was not supported until Xfree 4.3 or Xorg 6.7.

I am using Slackware 10 on a ECS desknote with Xorg and have no problems other than 3D acceleration is slow.

What version of XFree86 is on there? Do pkg_info | grep XFree86 to get a list of the X-related packages installed. If the packages loaded from the CD, you should have XFree86-4.3.0,1 installed, and as I understand it, your graphics chipset should be supported, as evidenced by the moire background + mouse cursor.

What does your X log file look like? (/var/log/Xfree86.0.log) What does your X config look like? (/etc/X11/XF86Config) Is there a .xinitrc file in your home directory telling X to load your desktop?

Since you have Xfree 4.3 it shoulc work so it looks like the problem is with the config file.

The moniter resolutions look a little odd. Standard is 1280x1024 or 1024x768

Try running xf86config.
