vga shared ram

Hi there people!

I'm running FreeBSD in a 200mhz i386 pc with 32MB RAM, but I have a problem... 16MB of the RAM is shared with the vga board (on board). Is there any way to get the on board graphic board working with less shared memory?

Anyone has a clue on this?

Thanks for your time!

well i know most (not all) BIOS's have that option in there where you can specify how much you want to allocate for your video card, so if you wanted it act as, for example, a 8meg card then you specify that in the bios (if available) and then you would obviously be only using 8 outta the 32 megs...
if the option is not available the only thing i can think of that you could try is to try and flash your BIOS and see if it upgrades it including that option, if it doesn't well, your just going to have to go find a second hand low-end video card and disable the onboard...

I already searched my BIOS for days... I haven't find anything about the shared ram. The other vga board it will be a bit difficult since i dont have any pci/agp slot available.. I only have ISA, and ISA graphic boards is a bit difficult to find asap.

Thanks anyway!
