Trying to start mysql on freebsd 4.8 dedicated server


ERROR 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)


^^ Thats the error I get when I try to start the mysql server, located in
/usr/local/mysql/bin

I typed ./mysql and thats the message it gave me

The version of it is... MySQL version 4.0.16

I tried doing it through webmin and it gave me this

"MySQL is not running on your system - database list could not be retrieved"

"Click this button to start the MySQL database server on your system with the command /usr/local/mysql/bin/safe_mysqld &. This Webmin module cannot administer the database until it is started."
