Status of xfs filesystem on FreeBSD?

Hello all, I'm a new GhostBSD user. I also use Slackware linux and would like to share some XFS partitions between the two.

What's the status of XFS filesystem support now on FreeBSD?

From the manpage:
Quote:
The port of XFS to FreeBSD is currently incomplete. Only read-only access is supported for XFS volumes. Writing to a volume is not supported.
TIA

Strange thing. The Handbook for FreeBSD 9.2 (2013) mentioned the read-only access for XFS and ReiserFS, but any mentions of those filesystems are completely absent from the current version of it. This post in their forums suggests the driver is still there, at least in FreeBSD 12.1.

Hi shruggy. Thanks for your reply. I ended up posting to the FreeBSD forum and was pointed to the following info.

Seems like support has been withdrawn and the only viable approach now is to use fuse
I'll mark this solved

XFS is only supported, along with some other external file systems such as NTFS, via fusefs, which is installed from ports. In tree (kernel) XFS support was removed years ago. Seeing a mention in 9.2-release but then no mention thereafter, points to it being removed in 10.0-release or thereabouts.
