snort with ipf and guardian

hey all,

i am trying to set up ipf with snort and guardian. Snort will check o/s fingerprint scans, etc and guardian will add a rule to /etc/ipf.conf
now, i am very new to this - i just know the basic configuration of ipf. what i cant understand is - is ipf good for the job or should i use ipfw (i ll have to learn that then). also if there are no hassels in using ipf, snort and guardian then can u please guide me to a tutorial where the setup and the configuration details are given for the three tools to work together.

thanking you in advance,
SiLiCoN
