Printing Problems with FreeBSD 4.10

I have CUPS and Gimp-Print installed, and CUPS configured for a Canon BJC-1000 printer. When I print from KWrite or KWord all I get is a black box on the paper about 2 inches by 3 inches. When I print the CUPS test page it prints correctly. I have successfully used this printer(as well as the entire computer) with FreeBSD 4.9 and 5.2.1 . I have checked everything and so I am looking for help.

It now works. I deleted the printer from CUPS. I deleted ".lpoptions" and ".kde/share/config/kdeprintrc" files from my home directory. Then I added the printer to CUPS and then it worked fine.
