Hi,
Is there one whole .iso file download to OpenBSD?

like this:

ftp://ftp.ulak.net.tr/pub/OpenBSD/5..../install55.iso

?

There is a list of mirrors here:

and once you are on the server, you should be able to click through the directories to the architecture you need (the link I gave is for x64 systems) and on to the ISO file.

Yeah, I think that's what you're looking for, mate. It will install openBSD and you can boot into it and it will be a functional UNIX system.

Obviously there are more packages you can install, so it's not "full" as in, installs everything. But it's what you need to get started, and then you can install more from there.

install55 will give you 5.5-RELEASE

This includes a working X.org server and fvwm window manager. Everything else X related will have to be installed by you. Refer to FAQ15 : http://www.openbsd.org/faq/faq15.html

Partitioning is often the hardest part for new users, so read the manual on fdisk's interactive mode before starting.

I'm installing OpenBSD using the .iso you recently mentioned above. But during setup, it seemed it was repeatedly asking all these below. why?

BTW, is there one .iso file download for FreeBSD?

If you install from an install iso you will have to continue without verification.

For FreeBSD, just go to FreeBSD's website, download disc1 for 10.0-RELEASE and burn to a CDR/CDRW.

Both OpenBSD and FreeBSD are exceptional operating systems. If you need help getting a DE up and running let us know. :)

I used "FreeBSD-10.0-RELEASE-amd64-dvd1" file to do the setup.

But after I've finished the setup, when starting up the machine, I still get this

is there only one shell to access the OS?

It looks like you've rebooted from the installation media. Remove the disc and reboot.

Is there one GUI interface to the OS?

To get a GUI you will need to install xorg and a window manager.

Have a look at the man page for "pkg" - which is fairly straightforward for basic install/remove/search actions:

Xorg is included with the base install. You need to decide on a window manager or DE.

Can I have the details to start windows GUI, within that?
