mounting media

I'm sure this has been asked a billion time in one form or another but I can't find any info on the web. Is it possible for regular users to mount cdroms, floppies, etc in FreeBSD? If so, how?

There is not user[s] options on /etc/fstab!

You can use the tip on FAQ:
http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO...ER-FLOPPYMOUNTUser mount User Mount,

but I really prefer using sudo utilitily, to allow some root rights
(mount, chown, reboot) to selected power users.

try /usr/ports/security/sudo.

The sudo examples file now have a line at the bottom specifically addressing the cdrom issue. But if you are impatient, then put this in the file

%YOUR_USERNAME% ALL = NOPASSWD: \
/sbin/umount /cdrom, \
/sbin/umount /dvdrom, \
/sbin/umount /floppy, \
/sbin/mount -o nosuid\,nodev /cdrom, \
/sbin/mount -o nosuid\,nodev /dvdrom, \
/sbin/mount -o nosuid\,nodev /floppy

and create cute wrapper scripts, and gui-buttons for yourself.
