I downloaded Midnight Commander mc-4.6.1... and installed it on OpenBSD 3.6. However, after ./configure, make, and make install, it has no color like the mc on linux distros or FreeBSD (same version), and the keys don't work properly. For instance, pressing F9 acts like I'm pressing F8 (delete). Also, the only way to access the menu is to press F10, which should be (quit), and then cursor to the item I want, i.e., there are no hotkeys. I installed all the packages that the compiler wanted to make the program. What am I doing wrong? Thanks,
Well, I tried "mc -c" which did bring up the color. But it still doesn't look like Midnight Commander on other platforms. The "learn keys" function didn't do any good. The keys started taking 3-5 presses to respond, and each time I pressed F10, it exited out of the Learn Keys, so that it wouldn't learn. I guess it will take some editing of the *.c files and a re-compile -- something I don't know how to do and don't have the time to learn. Thanks anyway.
