I know I've been asking tons of Q's lately ... here's another one.
I built a custom kernel. This leaves me with a filesystem like this:
Code:
File system:
/
boot/
kernel <-- current kernel
kernel.custom <-- my custom kernel (same as current)
kernel.generic <-- generic kernel
kernel.old <-- last kernel (same as generic)
(...etc...)
Now I'd like to "swap out" to the generic kernel for a short while (I plan to swap back soon). What do I need to replace to effectuate that? I know I will need to reboot of course, and "soon" means a couple of days -- but my machine is slow and recompiling a kernel also effectively takes at least a day, so I'm looking to avoid that.
Must I do a full-blown kernel recompile, or would it be enough to just replace the contents of
/boot/kernel/ with the contents of
/boot/kernelgeneric/ ? Are there any other files that I need to change?
