BSD runs on consoles too ... the PS4 runs a distro based on FreeBSD.

I'm posting from my Gateway/Acer clone laptop running FreeBSD 11.0-RELEASE-p9 now, have a Sony Vaio running it too (not to mention a Thinkpad T61 till it bit the dust a couple weeks ago), and a Thinkpad W520 and X61 both running OpenBSD 6.1 and am very happy with them all. Except my T61...

The W520 has a NVIDIA Quadro 1000M with Optimus and where I had to do some work to get it working right with FreeBSD, OpenBSD took without a hitch.

As far as needing someone to hold your hand with OpenBSD, I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night and am not a developer, but it's well documented and the install process is what I would consider to be very straightforward and easy.
