installation advise

I would like to install FreeBSD in my laptop which currently has a 10GB empty partition and another 20GB running WinXP. I tried installing it in vmware before. I am a little confused about what bootloader option should I chose during installation? Will the FreeBSD bootloader boots windows? Any advise?

There are 3 options when you are installing, and one says to load the FreeBSD boot loader (if dual booting) or something like that. It works fine I use it with XP at this moment on this machine. It's not pretty like Grub or nice like Lilo, but it works. You can install Grub as well. Someone started a thread recently on this.

I install different operating systems in addition to my primary os, WinXP. In order to do this, I use the GAG bootloader. GAG can be installed either in its own http://gag.sourceforge.net/ or from the SystemRescueCD: http://www.systemrescuecd.org/changes-x86.en.html

My advice is to NOT to use the bootloader that FreeBSD offers. Instead, you should use GAG. This has worked very well for me, and I suppose that it will work well for you also.

Yeah...freeBSD boot loader works...but it's annoying to get the screen like this:

F1 FreeBSD
F2 ??

Default F1

I want a more customizable boot manager...I just can't get grub to work...
