HP dv5000 KDE sound problem
Hello,
New to FreeBSD, I switched from slackware, which I really liked, and since, I can find no imformation on how Patrick is doing, or if he will be releasing slackware 64. So since Slack and FreeBSD use to be distributed from the same site, and Slack has retained more of it's unix roots, I thought I would give FreeBSD a try. I have a HP dv5000, w/ a AMD Turion 64 (why I upgraded from a 32 bit platform), ATI 200m Xpress 128 ddr, the last piece of imformation I'll give is my sound card, it's an ATI sb400 ac97. I've tried manually loading all of the sound drivers, just to have sndstat to be blank. Any ideas, or any clues to the direction I should be going would be great. I've read the section of the handbook on configuring your audio devices. If I can give anymore imformation, plz just let me know. >:) |
What is the output from
Code:
pciconf -lv Cheers-- Charles |
Yeah, it's listed.
hdr=0x00 vendor = 'ATI Technologies Inc' class = multimedia subclass = audio none2@pci0:20:6: class=0x070300 card=0x30a4103c chip=0x43781002 rev=0x02 |

You might try a google search to see if anyone has one. Cheers-- Charles |
Hehe, ok. I tried open sound, but i overloaded the cpu, and ther sound server just shut down, so I'm either going to have to try and tweak that, or trying piecing one together. :D
I'll look online, and see what I can come up w/, thanks for the help Chylde |
I found the driver I was looking for, snd_atiixp, it works for sb/100/200/300/400 sound chips. http://people.freebsd.org/~ariff/
