How to find out the type of my CD-RW?

Is there a command, which shows the type of IDE drives? I'd like to know the type of my CD-RW. I use FreeBSD 5.3. Thanks

Yes there is a command to supply you with that information. From the shell...

code:

$ dmesg | less

My drive is actually a DVD writer. You will notice it listed under device name acd1. Yours might be different. My DVDROM drive is listed under device acd0. You will also notice that it states that it is a HP drive (which is true) and lists a model number.
