How to check md5sum

Hi folks,

OpenBSD 4.0 amd64

I have following package/file download;

amavisd-new-2.5.0.tar.gz
amavisd-new-2.5.0.tar.gz.md5

I looked at "man md5" and could not resolve how to check md5 making use of the file "amavisd-new-2.5.0.tar.gz.md5". Please help.

TIA

Hi,

I got it.

$ md5 -c amavisd-new-2.5.0.tar.gz.md5
(MD5) amavisd-new-2.5.0.tar.gz: OK

If you want to see the actual value of the md5sum, try doing
Code:
$md5 somefile
or
Code:
$md5 -s somefile

I personally wouldn't use "md5 -s " 'cause I've known the output of that to differ alongside just "md5."
