help with new install of FreeBSD
Hello,
I'm a newbie and would like to try FreeBSD on a PC that already has XP, Redhat, Gentoo and debian installed. I want to use hda5 (boot), hda6(root) and hda7(swap) My question is I don't understand where to put FreeBSD as the install does not show my drive partitions like Linux does. How can I map FreeBSD to these partitions above? Thanks |
FreeBSD uses slices and partitions. FreeBSD uses th e word "slice" the way Windows and Linux use the word "partition". A FreeBSD partition is a portion of a "slice".
I would suggest visiting the FreeBSD website (freebsd.org) to learn about the differences in terminology and device naming conventions before moving forward. Best of luck, Andrew Gould |
make 5 partions, 4 to XP, Redhat, Gentoo and debian... and the the last 1. you make auto slices, and install freebsd on it =)
