Help: flashplayer on opera ( FreeBSD )
hi everybody
my problem is i cant get youtube or whatever flash videos to run inside my browser ( Opera ). im on freeBSD, and i've installed flashplayer4.x.x from the ports collection but they didn't work either. i went into adobe flash website to download the current package wich is flashplayer 10 in a tar.gz file. and whenever i try to decompress the file i get a broken "libflashplayer.so" file. without the install-sh file they talk about in the other threads i red. i downloaded a good "libflashplayer.so" of flashplayer_v6 and tried to make "opera" the browser to take it from the preferences but "NO" it seems like the file is not ready yet to be recognized by the "opera". they've also mentioned "nswrapper" but i couldnt get it from the ports. AND I"VE HAD IT. please help, thank you |
How many versions of flash do you see under Preferences--> Advanced--> Content--> Plug-in Options?
|
i do not see any !!

Check if you have this file at this location: /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so if you do copy it to: /usr/lib/opera/plugins. That sorted it for me.

to be honest,
I've never got good performance for such like. I use opera flash and it just doesn't really do it. I dual boot linux or use a linux live disk when I want to play with youtube. or use the wife's mac. sad but true. |
i thank everyone who posted a reply here.
im still strugllin with it. i've tried all the above EXCEPT using Wine. and when i try to install somethings i feel like going inside a loop. everything depending on something, and so on.......... i will take a breath for a few days. and try again. what realy annoyed me is that i was able to nswrapp flashplayer9 but 10 is not. sometimes i get that its not NAPI compatible, and another i get that libnss3 is needed and its already installed. ld flags are correct. i've ran ldconfig. and so on. its so irritating. thanx again guys. |
i've thanked u all.

just wondering if anyone just could wrap the libflahsplayer.so file for me and upload it somewhere.
so i can just plug it into opera if thats possible. regards |

http://www.daemonforums.org/showthre...ighlight=flash The easiest way to get flash on BSD is to run windoze Firefox/Opera in wine. Wine is working quite well on FreeBSD now. You can also run a native Firefox/Opera for those sites with no flash or don't want flash. Or read the posts and give other suggestions a try. |
