gyach in bsd

ok. i loaded the gyach port, and ran it. doctored upthe prefs, then tried to connect. i had my correct name and login password, etc. Nothing. nada. zilch.
i get "Socket connect failed: 13" with a ticktactoe box next to it on the bottom of the frame.
now what? is this thing alpha, or what? i have java jdsk14 compiled natively, and via the linux app on sun's java.com site both using pcbsd's java wizard and FreeBSD /usr/ports. i have ipfw.rules setup, with anything that moves blocked.

help! i can only talk on yahoo chat with linux. i/m trying to get away from linux and (gawd) msn. help!!!!
-O.

gyach is one port I find very unpredictable. I have three yahoo IDs... two work with it and one doesn't. It just hangs there and never loads.

If you can't get it to work... may I recommend gaim? It's an instant messenger program but it does allow you to chat in the chat-rooms at Yahoo.

Not that this is going to be one spectacular post to help you out but I personally recommend just using Gaim http://gaim.sf.net because 'it just works'.
