FreeNAS will not save security settings in win2k8r2 DC

I have a FreeNAS File Server VM and Win2k8r2 DC on a VMWare ESXi Virtual Server array.

FreeNAS is authenticating through Win2k8. When I wbinfo -u (-g) in a shell, users (groups) come up just fine. The issue is that when I go to add a group or user to the CFIS share in win2k8, I get the following error: "An error occured while applying security information to [\\host\share]. The parameter is incorrect" and will not let me save the settings.

Scoured Google to no avail and there doesn't seem to be much out there. Any suggestions?

Hi Joe,

FreeNAS is not GNU/Linux but rather an appliance based on FreeBSD, a very different UNIX-like operating system. You should ask in their support forum or mailing lists, that information is in their website. Note aside, do not ask in the official FreeBSD forums, they only support the official OS, which FreeNAS is not.

You may also want to ask a moderator to move your question to the BSD section here, you may have luck there.

Ah, that explains the crickets... After reading the "Read this first" post, I didn't see FreeNAS in there, but your explanation clears that up for me. I'll send a msg to a mod...thanks for your input!
