FreeBSD-Windows Problems.

I have a 4Gig, 333Mhz IBM PC. I would like to partition it exactly into two 2Gig portions and use one for Windows (installed first) and the other for FreeBSD. However, whenever I attempt to do this, I am always getting a lot of error messages while installing FreeBSD. Why is this ? Can this issue be solved ? Thanks.

Maybe FreeBSD don't support your hardware.

Can you be more objective and give us the errors?

There are no error meessages per say in this regard. I have a 333 MHz Pentium, 128Mb Ram. IBM Aptiva E-140

Here is the issue though. I am using FreeBSD 5.1 This is known to have bugs and is a developers version they say. Maybe I should have tried NetBSD or FreeBSD 5.1.

Vector Linux Loaded well, Knoppix loaded but with the command vga=normal in text mode.

Mandrake KDE was the worst. Till date it installs but on loading, keeps opening windows and shutting them down. I even tried XFDrake, Mandrakes XF86Config tool. and tried several setting close to my PCs components. It didn't help.

If you need further info. please ask.

True. :) When I ordered FreeBSD though I was a real newbie, beginner, didn't know a thing. Least of all, I didn't expect such different versions. My Online vendor sells just this one version. There was no other info. So, I just decided to go ahead and get this version. I have no regrets as it was a good start and has taught me a lot of things. :)
