Hello everyone
I'm new to FreeBSD after few years playing around with Linux I decided to give FreeBSD a try on my home backup server. It is an old machine - PIII 1Ghz, 256 mb RAM and a single IDE hard drive - perfect for the small task I do for backup and home network services.
I read some of the FreeBSD handbook, backed up all of the important files from the hard disk and inserted FreeBSD 7.0 installation disk into a cd-rom drive ... and here the problem begins.
I choose my language preferences and as soon as I go to 'Standard installation' I get a message concerning that the next step will be disk partitioning using fdisk, so I hit enter and i catches unexpected signal 11 ... doesn't say much about it except for that it will reboot.
Does anyone think he may know a solution for that?
Can that be a problem with existing Linux partitions on a hard disk? (I think not.) To make sure my installation media is fine I tried to get trough that part of the installation procedure on my laptop and there were no problems at all ... so I'm feeling a little lost, handbook doesn't say a word about signal 11 with installer fdisk, there is no too much information on the issue on google ... so that you're my only hope!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
