If it's not the cd, then it's definitely something else...

I had a bad time installing 5.4.There were a few packages that just did not work.Im got an error code 1 for them

Emacs is installed but it just will not work.I try to pkg_add -r emacs and it tells me it's already installed but when i TRY TO USE IT THE "EMACS" COMMAND IS NOT FOUND.Goddam caps!!
I'm too dam lazy to go back and retype everything ;-)

Anyhow,5.3 installed like a dream as did 5.2.1 before it.But I want the newest packages for k3b and quake2lnx and such so I'm workin on 5.4 but it is a little disappointing.

I don't think it's my discs as this is the second download and compilation of 5.4 for myself.

PLS try removing the pre-installed "emacs" first by 'pkg_delete'
and then reinstall it.

regrads...

I tried that but I get told that 'emacs' is not installed yet when I try to reinstall it I am told that it is already installed.

Emacs is working now and I'm sure I know why it would not before. Now I am not so disappointed.:-)
