Files burned on CDRW can't be copied to Debian box

Hi all folks,

FreeBSD 5.2

I used "burncd" burning data files on a CDRW as root. The files can be copied on the same box. But they can't be copied on Debian box, saying that I have no permission to copy files. However in fact the files are copied to Debian box. On the Debian box I tried to mount the CDRW as root as well as user with the same result. Kindly advise is there any solution?

Beside how to authorized 'user-A' to burn CD

TIA

B.R.

How are you burning the data files?

Are you using mkisofs and then burning the resulting ISO images to the CD? Or are you doing something like this?

cd files/
burncd -vs48 data * fixate

That won't result in a data CD. I've never had any problems using mkisofs, burning the ISO file, and then reading them on another system.

Steps taken by me as follows;

# mkisofs -R -o cdimage.iso /dir
# burncd -e -v -f /dev/acd1 data /path/to/cdimage

Ahah!

Code:
# burncd -e -v -f /dev/acd1 data /path/to/cdimage
In the future, try using burncd with the fixate option. This will finalize the CD, and allow you to use the disc on other systems. Try this instead:

Code:
# burncd -e -v -f /dev/acd1 data /path/to/cdimage fixate

Hi Alex,

Oh sorry, I forgot to type in 'fixate' on my previous posting. In fact I have 'fixate' on the command line otherwise the burnt CD can't be read.
