error: unable to open scoreboard: No such file or directory

Code:

Mar  6 11:46:40 powder proftpd[79474]: powder.mydomain.com - error: unable to open scoreboard: No such file or directory
any idea why I get this in /var/log/message when I try too ftp into my server??

thx

Sounds like it's trying to log statistics to it's own log that doesn't exist.

By the way, this would probably be more appropriate in the Networking forum since it's not BSD-specific.

Actually, the first hit on Google had the correct answer. I suggest you try searching Google since you'll get a response much faster that way.

The link is:
setting up proftpd w/scoreboard

The Google string was: proftpd+unable+to+open+scoreboard

chort: I decided to try and use the ftpd program that comes with freebsd.

it is working and I could get proftpd to work now but which would you use?

i've used proftpd a bunch before and it has a ton of killer options to put into the config file that I have found ftpd is quite simplistic in terms of options but its doing the job right now.

so what ftp program would you recommend and why?

thx :D

I use PureFTPd because it claims to have never had a vulnerability (and I've never seen one posted, either). ProFTPd is well-liked, but I've seen several vulnerabilities for it posted. I don't know about the built-in ftpd that FreeBSD comes with... I never set it up. Another option may be vsTFPd, which also has a good reputation for security.

Honestly, use whatever you're the most comfortable with, as long as you know how to configure it securely.
