Windows 98 is easy to fix. Make a rescue floppy. If your mbr is bad, just run 'fdisk after booting to the rescue disk. This will reinstall the Windows 98 mbr.
Since you are removing Mandrake, you will want to boot into 98 and run this anyway to remove your old grub loader.
You may also want to remove the Mandrake partitions before you start the BSD installation.
