Does FreeBSD work well on newer hardware (server) ?

I have a IBM x3650 with 2 x Quad core with 32 GB memory. Will FreeBSD work well with this hardware configuration? Any recommendation on whether FreeBSD or Linux will scale up better on this hardware?

Thanks.

The latest benchmarks I saw of FreeBSD 7 showed their threading support increased performance pretty close to linearly for each additional core, and the comparison to Linux 2.6 was extremely favorable in nearly every case, particular running databases.

As for the hardware, I believe they have a list of supported devices at www.FreeBSD.org under the appropriate architecture.

Apparently their SMP and IO is better than Linux.

Quote:

SMPng: After seven years of development on advanced SMP support, FreeBSD 7.0 realizes the goals of a fine-grained kernel allowing linear scalability to over 8 CPU cores for many workloads.
There is also of course the old comparison page:

Which may or may not be biased :)
