BSD Platform for Workstation?
Hey guys.
I am a gentoo vet and am wondering which BSD platform would be the best workstation platform for me. I basically want a cutting-edge and feature-full platform that handles lots of tasks with ease. I am trying to put my old workstation to use. I think experimenting with BSD would be a great use. Anyone have any ideas of which would be the best for me? Thanks in advance. |
why would u want to go to *bsd from linux ???
anyway i think that FREEBSD is cutting edge and also it has the ports system as in gentoo (actually gentoo has the ports system from bsd) |

thanks for the fast replies guys.
I personally just wanted to try BSD out. I heard that Gentoo and FreeBSD also share some very similar charactaristics. Thanks for the input. I will get FreeBSD ASAP and post some results. :) Thanks again, guys :) |
Also, keep an eye on the progress of DragonFly BSD. It forked off FreeBSD because its main developer believes he can do better than FreeBSD 5.x. There's a chance he may prove out to be right. ;)
