BSD Boot Loader Questions

Hi!
I will like to buy and install FreeBSD 5.0 . Presently,my pc is running win98 and RH Linux 8. I use grub as my OS boot loader.
There's a problem.

If I install FreeBSD 5, will its bootloader write over Grub? And will BSD's boot loader recognise the presence of linux and windows and list them in its startup list?

Then, lets say if I revert back to grub, can grub recognise the presence of FreeBSD? Btw, do you know how to reinstall grub if it can recognise BSD's presence?

Please anser quickly if you can...thanks!!

You have the option during to install FreeBSD's boot loader at all. If you let it install by accident, you can just use the RH CD to boot to redhat and then use the "repair" option to re-install grub with your old grub.conf file.

You can configure FreeBSD's bootloader to do linux and win98. Offhand, I don't think its just going to "automagically" detect the other two.

To find the proper BSD stanza to add to grub.conf, just do a search on www.google.com/linux or www.google/bsd for "grub and FreeBSD" and you should be fine.

Cheers,

Finegan
