Bizzare NetBSD X problem

I just set up NetBSD on my (old)laptop, because it was the only *nix that could make use of the pcmcia controller. However, when I go to start x, all my consoles dissappear, and I just get a loop of my console history that advances when I press any of the keys. I've tried messing with X config and whatnot... This is really weird, and I lose all input and all my consoles. Any ideas?

Running xf86config and selecting the S3/ViRGE MX for a graphic card seems to have solved the problem, I just didn't expect this from a driver problem, as I've never encountered this in linux. And I could've sworn I used the vesa driver back when I ran some ancient version of Debian. Anywho, problem resolved.
