audio problem in FreeBSD
i installed openbsd 2 days ago and then decided i wanted freebsd so i would have 3d acceleration on my nvidia card. my problem is i don't know how to get my audio working. i don't even know where to start. i've been using bsd for 2 days and linux for maybe 1 month at the most. i'm currently running gnome in freebsd 6.1 . when i click on the audio icon i get the message: The volume control did not find any elements and/or devices to control. this means either that you don't have the right GStreamer plugins installed, or that you don't have a sound card configured. So.... then i did pkg_add "ftp and name of bsd package"
and i got the message: gstreamer"version" or its older version is already installed. so now i'm thinking i need to uninstall the previous version and try installing the newer version. how would i do this, if i even need to? |
It would have helped if you mentioned what type of sound card you were using. Anyway, take a look at the sound card section in the FreeBSD handbook, it may help you out.
