Exclamation ad0:READ command timeout


FreeBSD/i386 5.0-RELEASE Installation.

ad0: READ command timeout tag=0 serv=0 - resetting...

asrock K7S8X v2.30 04/2004
new 80gb ata133 7,200 maxtor
XP2500 @ XP2600 2ghz
2x 256 DDR400 matching pair
MX420 64DDR

no floppy..

hdd1 / hdd2 on IDE0
DVDr / CDr on IDE1

no linux would install on my system, but then i flash the bios and they work a treat.. damn small linux..

any idea?

FreeBSD/i386 5.0-RELEASE Installation.

5.0 was a very raw release... 5.x is still considered to be in testing and 5.0 was full of quite a few odd bugs. My advice is get 5.2.1 and only if the problem continues set your drive geometry under you bios to LBA.
