Thanks for the link JWJones - going to write a short "story" and post, trying to keep as much anonymity as possible...

Not a tremendous number of people using BSD's as a desktop, compared to Linux anyway, but there are quite a few of us. I for one am really glad I made the switch. I can't say enough good things about FreeBSD.

This year I put OpenBSD onto almost all my computers, (only my Toshiba Satellite & RPi3Bs don't have it).
I started out with good intent to just use cwm, but I'm so used to Fluxbox that I've put it on them.

I did at least try OpenBSD but the graphical performance on my large monitor was terrible so went back to FreeBSD. Nothing bad with OpenBSD, I just have relatively demanding hardware...

Building A FreeBSD Desktop From Scratch

In addition to the Beginners Tutorial there are screenshots of different DE and WM courtesy of FreeBSD forum members and over 60 wallpapers to pimp that new desktop out.

And it's all Free like BSD. How can you afford not to try it?
